Barchetti 2026

Vita

Laura Barchetti studied classical singing in her hometown Modena and subsequently undertook a teaching degree in music and biology at the Berlin University of the Arts and Humboldt University of Berlin. She also specialised in Baroque singing and early music at the Berlin University of the Arts under the guidance of Doerthe Maria Sandmann. Whilst still a student, she worked at the Berlin University of the Arts, initially in Dr. Susanne Heiter’s department and later with Prof. Dr. Dörte Schmidt. In 2024, she completed her Master’s degree with a thesis on Nino Rota’s film music for Federico Fellini’s film La Strada. Since October 2024, she has been a research assistant to Prof. Dr. Christoph Flamm at the Department of Musicology at the University of Heidelberg and is working on her doctoral thesis on Italian film music in the post-war period, for which she has received a scholarship from the German Historical Institute in Rome for the year 2025.

Her research interests include European music and musical theatre in the 19th and 20th centuries, film music, and the interactions between music and other arts.
