Vita
After his studies in musicology and cultural management at the Franz Liszt University of Music in Weimar and Friedrich Schiller University in Jena Roman Lüttin was awarded with a PhD in July 2026 for his thesis on Artistic Collaboration in 16th-Century Italian Music Anthologies at Heidelberg University. Since October 2021, he has been a research associate at the Department of Musicology there. From April 2023 to March 2026, he worked in the DFG project ‘Collaborative Composing in the Early Modern Period’, while his research was also supported by scholarships from the German Historical Institute in Rome and the German Study Centre in Venice. Since September 2025, he has been the coordinator of the Thematic Research Network ‘Authenticity in Culture, Community and Science’, since April 2026 he also has been working as a research associate at the CRC 1671 ‘Home(s): Phenomena, Practices, Representations’.
Next to the history of music in the early modern period with a focus on Italy, he researches and teaches on music in the 19th century. He is particuraly interested in practices of artistic collaboration and discourses on musical authorship.
