Research Network Techno Heritage Network
The Techno Heritage Network, hosted by Heidelberg University and the Berlin University of the Arts since 2026, is a new international research and networking initiative dedicated to the history and cultural heritage of techno and electronic dance music. Its aim is to increase the visibility of existing research projects, archives, collections, and cultural initiatives worldwide, connect their activities, and foster scholarly exchange on the history, documentation, and preservation of electronic music cultures.

The network was initiated by Jun.-Prof. Dr. Matthias Pasdzierny (Berlin), Prof. Dr. Christiane Wiesenfeldt (Heidelberg) and Dr. Esther Dubke (Heidelberg), supported by student assistants, including Tina Besir (Heidelberg) and Gabriela Losada Diaz (Berlin).
Through its digital platform, the network seeks to strengthen academic research on techno while encouraging dialogue between scholars, cultural institutions, and members of electronic music communities.
