Die Tonkunst

DIE TONKUNST is published four times a year as the member magazine of the association of the same name, DIE TONKUNST e.V., which is dedicated to promoting musicology. Founded in January 2003 as a monthly online magazine, the project was transferred in January 2010 to be led by an association, which had been established in late 2009.
A distinctive feature of TONKUNST is the exclusive thematic sections that open each issue and contain numerous essays by renowned authors. Each issue also offers readers additional scholarly articles and profiles, reviews of books, sheet music, and CDs, news from musicology departments, as well as reports on conferences and events.
After being based at the Institute for Musicology Weimar-Jena from 2012 to 2020, the editorial office of TONKUNST has been located at the Department of Musicology at Heidelberg University since April 2020.
